Role Description
Job Title: Creative Communications & Social Media Volunteer
Location: Fully Remote
Type: Part-time, Volunteer
About Us
At Girls in Data, our mission is to show young women that data isn’t just numbers, it’s the future. We work to demystify data and tech careers, providing the inspiration and tools girls need to step into the industry with confidence.
The Role:
We are looking for a tech-curious, creative volunteer to help us grow our digital footprint. You’ll be the voice of Girls in Data, creating content that makes data careers look as exciting and accessible as they truly are.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Social Media Management: Own our presence on LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok - scheduling posts that engage our volunteers.
- Branding & Design: Help us develop a bold, empowering visual identity across all platforms, from slide decks to social headers.
- Comms & Storytelling: Draft our content such as newsletters and "Success Story" blogs that spotlight our community and corporate partners.
- Community Engagement: Interact with our followers and help us build a safe, inspiring online space for young women.
- Data-Driven Strategy: Go beyond the "likes." You’ll track our social media performance, identifying which topics resonate most with our volunteers and corporate partners.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
- A passion for gender equality and STEM/Data education.
- A "digital native" who knows what performs well on social media.
- Strong writing skills: you can be professional on LinkedIn but relatable on Instagram.
- An eye for clean, modern design (data visualisation experience is a bonus but not required!).
Nice to have:
- Have a basic understanding of social media analytics (Instagram Insights, LinkedIn Analytics, etc.).
- Can turn our engagement stats into simple, clean data visualisations for our internal reports.
- Are comfortable using (or willing to learn) tools like Google Analytics or Buffer/Hootsuite to track our reach.
Why Join Us:
- Network: Connect with industry leaders and mentors in the data and tech space.
- Portfolio: Build a portfolio showcasing how you’ve grown a niche, mission-driven brand.
- Impact: Directly contribute to closing the gender gap in one of the world’s fastest-growing industries.
- Flexibility: This is a remote-friendly role that fits around your studies or career.
Time Commitment
We ask for approximately 2–3 hours per week, with flexibility depending on your availability.
